Un-Workshop with Abigail Sharpe

Apr112026

From 10:45 am until 1:00 pm

At West Branch Regional Library

1425 Chaffee Road S. Jacksonville, FL 32221

This Saturday, FCRW members and guests are invited to step into something a little different: an Unworkshop, modeled on the unconference format, where there is no set agenda, no formal instructor, and no predetermined topics. Instead, the session is driven entirely by the participants, with instruction and discussion emerging organically from the group's collective knowledge and questions. Think of it as the hive mind doing what it does best.

What to Bring

To keep the conversation flowing and the creativity moving, please come prepared with the following:

  • Three copies of the first page of your manuscript (current work in progress)
  • Three copies of either five pages or a synopsis
  • A before-and-after example of something you revised after the Margie Lawson workshop
  • A writing or craft book you love, ready to share which specific sections or concepts resonated with you

If you have writing or craft questions you'd like the group to tackle, you're welcome to submit them in advance to Abby or bring them with you on Saturday. No question is too basic, and no idea is too wild for the hive.

About Your Facilitator

Abigail Sharpe is a Boston-bred Yankee who now calls North Central Florida home, where she has fully embraced grits and "y'all." A technical writer by day, she turns her evenings toward writing passionate and playful contemporary romance, each story infused with her signature touch of humor. When she steps away from the keyboard, she can be found in a corset, singing bawdy songs as part of Just Desserts, an a cappella musical comedy act. She lives with her husband, two kids, and one self-described crazy princess puppy. http://www.abigailsharpe.com/

A Word from Abby

"Just in case, and so we're not twiddling our writing thumbs in silence... Hive mind unite!" This is an experiment, and that is exactly the point. Come curious, come open, and come ready to learn from the writers sitting next to you.

Questions about the format? Bring them to the group email chain for members. Non-members and Guests email her directly: abigailsharpebooks@gmail.com (Including the very reasonable question of whether Abby has lost her mind.)
