Susan Shipe Calfee
Susan's writing journey began in second grade with a poem about her love for spaghetti. The publication of this poem ignited her passion for rhyming and she continued to hone her writing skills through workshops on a Shantyboat docked on the Trout River in Jacksonville, Florida. Thanks to these workshops, Susan was able to write a children's book and is now eagerly anticipating the release of her first novel. In addition to writing, Susan has a love for singing which she actively pursues through various opportunities. She spent twenty years performing with the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus and also formed and joined other musical groups. As a natural extension of her passion for music, Susan volunteers at Baptist Medical Center where she escorts strolling musicians throughout the hospital as part of Body & Soul - The Art of Healing program.
Her family includes two adventurous sons, a lovely daughter-in-law, and two besotted grandchildren. She lives in Ponte Vera Beach, Florida. The Forces of Bay House is her debut novel. She is proud to be one of many authors in her family. Her writing has appeared in magazines, newspapers, and online. Her first book is St. Augustine A to Z.
