M.J. Gates (a.k.a Joseph Michael Kiel) grew up alongside one of the Great Lakes where the water left its mark on him forever. Military service called and he spent twenty-four years in postings throughout the U.S. and abroad. Active duty was interspersed with education at Texas A&M University, first as an English major and then completing a degree in veterinary medicine. The water has always been his compass rose so living and traveling on boats from the Caribbean to Glacier Bay in Alaska has been a way of life. He currently divides his time between a home on an island in the Pacific Northwest and a boat based out of Florida. A contemporary romance novel, Sailing Into Christmas, will be published soon."
